Double Chocolate Whole Wheat Brownies (one bowl recipe)


These are the best whole grain brownies I have baked so far! Perfect chewy yet fudgy brownies.














Double chocolate whole wheat brownies( one bowl recipe)

Ingredients:



  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup neutral flavourless oil 
  • 4 oz (115 grams)dark chocolate, chopped 
  • 2 cup light brown sugar/ organic sugar 
  • 3/4 cup Hershey dark cocoa/ regular cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2  teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 1/4 cup King Arthur White Whole Wheat Flour
  • 2/3 cup semisweet or bittersweet chocolate chips

Method:


1. Preheat the oven to 350 *F(175 *C).

2. In a heatproof bowl, over a double boiler or in a microwave melt the butter and the chopped dark chocolate.

3. Once it is melted, mix well. Add in the oil.

4. Add the sugar and mix well for 1 minute until the mixture gets shiny.

5. Add the eggs, one at a time and mix well.

6. Add the vanilla extract.

7. Sift in the flour, cocoa, salt,baking powder.

8. Fold in all the dry ingredients.

9. Fold in the chocolate chips.

10. Pour the batter in a 13 inch by 9 inch pan that has been greased.

11. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25-28 minutes.

12. Cool completely and then cut into 2 inch squares.

*Note: For eggless version: Replace eggs with 1/2 cup yogurt mixed with 1/2 cup milk. And increase the baking powder to 1 teaspoon.
