Peach Iced Tea



Peach Iced Tea: Refreshing Iced Tea With Fresh Peaches

   Makes 10 servings


 Fresh peaches      4, medium sized
 Black loose leaf tea*    4 tablespoons  OR 4 -Tea bags     
 Sugar     1/3 to 1/2 cup or to taste
 Water       5 & 1/2 cups, divided use
 Ice       For serving the tea

*Loose leaf tea- I have used Darjeeling black loose leaf tea.

Electric pressure cooker Method:


1. Wash and slice the peaches. Add the peaches to a heat-proof container.Add the sugar and 1/2 cup of water to the peaches.

2.  Add 5 cups of water to the electric pressure cooker insert.  Add the tea bags, if using or the loose leaf black tea.  Keep the peach container inside the electric pressure cooker on a trivet. Close the lid and pressure cook for 4 minutes. Let the pressure release naturally for 10-15 minutes then release any excess pressure.

3. Remove the peaches. Strain the tea if using loose leaf tea. Let it cool down to room temperature.Blend the peaches along with liquids or mash with a potato masher.  Strain the peach puree and add  it to the tea.

4.  Add 1/2 cup of ice to a serving glass and add the prepared peach tea.


Stovetop method:

1. Wash and slice the peaches. Add the peaches to a sauce pan. Add the sugar and 1/2 cup of water to the peaches. Cook until the  sugar dissolves and peaches are soft

2. To another sauce pan :  Add 2 cups of water.  Bring the water to boil. Turn off the heat.  Add the tea bags or the loose leaf black tea. Cover and set aside for 10-15 minutes.

 3. Strain the tea if using loose leaf tea.  Add 3 cups of water. Let it cool down to room temperature. Blend the peaches along with liquids or mash with a potato masher.  Strain the peach puree and add  it to the tea.

4.  Add 1/2 cup of ice to a serving glass and add the prepared peach tea.
