Air Fryer Pakoda - Fritters
No Fry Pakore - Pakode
Pakoda or bhajiya are spiced fritters made with chickpea/gram flour, spices and vegetables. These crispy golden brown vegetable pakodas are cooked to perfection in the air fryer. Seasoned with cumin, coriander, fresh cilantro, chillies, they are perfect snack to be enjoyed with a cup of tea or as an appetizer for your meal!
Ingredients
- 1 Cup - Grated zucchini or cabbage or mixed vegetables
- 1 Cup - Sliced onions
- 1/2 Cup - Chickpea flour (Besan)
- 2 Tablespoons - Rice flour
- 1/2 teaspoon - Red chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon - Turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoons - Coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon - Cumin seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon - Carom seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon - Ginger paste
- 3 tablespoons - Fresh cilantro or coriander leaves.
- 1 tablespoon - Oil plus more for brushing.
- 1/2 teaspoon or to taste- Salt

Method:
1. To a mixing bowl: add the grated zucchini and sliced onions to a bowl. Add ajwain(carom) seeds and the grated ginger.Add the cumin seeds, turmeric, chili powder, and salt. Mix until well combined and set aside for 10 minutes. You can use any vegetables of your choice such as cabbage,potatoes, spinach or mixed vegetables.
2. Add oil and rice flour. Add the coriander powder.Add the chickpea flour.Mix until well combined. Add fresh cilantro/coriander leaves. No additional water is required.
3. Grease the baking sheet or basket.Drop the batter by spoonfuls.Pre-heat the air fryer at 325ºF(162 ºC).Air fry at 325ºF(165ºC) for 10 minutes. Turn over after 5 minutes and brush with oil.Air fry at 375ºF(190ºC) for additional 5 minutes.Turn over after 3 minutes and brush with oil.Finish cooking for additional 2 minutes. Pakodas are ready when golden brown. Serve hot with ketchup or chutney. Pakodas also pair well with Kadhi.
