Dal Bati - Air Fryer Baati Recipe
Dal Bati is a traditional recipe from Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. Bati or baati, a baked whole wheat dough roll is served with spicy dal and lot of ghee.
I am sharing my recipe for baked bati in airfryer. Bati can also be baked in a traditional oven. I will share the recipe for dal in another post.
Ingredients
- 1-1/4 Cups - Whole wheat flour
- 1/4 cup Jowar flour or additional wheat flour
- 1/4 cup Almond flour
- 1/2 teaspoon Carom seeds(ajwain- optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon - Baking powder
- Salt to taste
- 1/3 cup -Water or as needed
- 3 tablespoons - Ghee, plus additional ghee for brushing
Method:
1.In a bowl, add all the flours listed along with salt, ajwain. Add the ghee and rub it into flour.
2. Add water gradually to make a semi-soft dough. Cover and let it rest for 20 minutes.
3. In the meantime, pre-heat airfryer at 350º F.
4. Knead the doigh just so that its smooth. Divide the dough into 20 equal portions.
5. Roll each dough ball and pich them in the center. Add some ghee in the indent in dough.Arrange the prepared baati in a baking basket.
6.Bake the bati at 350ºF for 18-20 min. Turn the bati at halfway mark, and brush with some ghee. Bake until golden brown. Baking time may vary depending on the oven.
7. Brush batis with additional ghee or dip in ghee. I like to break them slightly and serve with the daal.
